A social media user has come forward to apologize after starting a viral rumor that legendary Nollywood actor Pete Edochie had passed away.
The fake news, which spread like wildfire on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook on Tuesday, claimed the 78-year-old actor died in a hospital.
The Truth of the Matter:
Confession: The user, known as @Heismikel1, admitted he completely "fabricated" (made up) the story to mislead the public.
Health Status: Pete Edochie is alive, healthy, and doing well. The actor himself later joked that he has been "killed" by rumors at least seven times now!
Public Apology: The culprit asked for forgiveness from Nigerians and the Edochie family, urging everyone to ignore the heartless prank.
