The Middle East crisis escalated on Saturday night as Iran launched dozens of missiles and drones toward the United Arab Emirates.
Although the UAE’s defense systems successfully shot down most of the projectiles, the falling fragments caused a fatality and forced the nation's busiest airports to halt operations.
In Abu Dhabi, seven people were injured and one person died due to debris from a drone intercepted near the airport. In Dubai, four people were treated for injuries following a similar incident.
For safety, the UAE temporarily closed its entire airspace. This led to massive delays and cancellations for international airlines, though limited services are beginning to restart.
These strikes are a response to "Operation Epic Fury," a joint US-Israeli campaign that targeted Iranian leadership and military sites earlier in the week.
Security forces and emergency responders remain on high alert across the country to protect residents and visitors as the regional situation remains unpredictable.
