The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has come out to debunk rumors that the government told them to stop arresting people selling sachet alcohol.
Despite reports circulating online, NAFDAC says no one has told them to "wait" or "stop."
The Confusion: A report recently went viral claiming that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) had ordered NAFDAC to suspend the ban on sachet drinks and small 200ml bottles. NAFDAC says this is completely false and misleading.
What the Boss Said: The Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, made it clear that:
No Official Letter: The agency has not received any formal paper or instruction to stop their work.
Public Health First: They are still committed to stopping the sale of these small drinks because they are too easy for children to buy and can lead to alcohol abuse.
Official Channels Only: If the government wanted to change the rules, it would happen through official letters, not social media rumors.
