The APC has put a "hold" on its internal elections in Abia State. While the party leaders claim they are just getting organized, political analysts think the move is a strategic play to welcome Governor Alex Otti into the fold.
The APC National Chairman and Secretary jointly signed the letter to INEC, suspending all party activities in Abia indefinitely.
Sources within the party claim the suspension is actually a way to "recalibrate" the party structure so it can accommodate high-profile new members—specifically Governor Otti.
As of now, Governor Otti hasn't said he is leaving the Labour Party, and the APC leadership hasn't officially confirmed he is joining.
The party assured the public that the delay still follows the Electoral Act 2022, and they will play by the rules once they are ready to restart.
