In a viral interview, Afenifere’s Director of Research, Akin Fapohunda, has sparked controversy with his raw assessment of Nigerian politics.
He targeted both the safety of Peter Obi and the leadership style of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
Fapohunda told Peter Obi that "nothing will happen" if he dies, urging him to stay alive and safe because the political system is indifferent to individual tragedies.
The chieftain accused Governor Okpebholo of having a "village mentality," suggesting he was "catapulted" into office by Adams Oshiomhole to do his bidding.
By invoking the name of the late Lamidi Adedibu, Fapohunda is warning that Edo State politics might be returning to an era where an unelected "godfather" holds more power than the actual Governor.
While he admitted the Governor might be "sincere," he argued that sincerity isn't enough when a leader is being controlled by external interests.
