In a major shift for the Ogun State political landscape, Professor Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello has confirmed her membership in the APC.
The former Senator and Health Commissioner explained that she is returning to active politics to give her supporters the leadership they have been demanding for the past two years.
Iyabo emphasized that joining the APC was a "personal journey" and an independent decision made after extensive consultation, not a move lobbied for by her father.
She has declared her intention to contest for the governorship of Ogun State, stating she wants to become Nigeria’s first elected female governor.
During her recent visit to the APC National Secretariat, she praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms and infrastructure projects, such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road.
Citing her track record in the Senate and as a Commissioner, she described herself as a "formidable candidate to beat" in the upcoming party primaries.
