Nigeria’s financial team is getting a boost as President Tinubu welcomed Taiwo Oyedele to the State House.
As the new Minister of State for Finance, Oyedele is expected to use his deep knowledge of tax policy to help stabilize the nation's struggling economy.
Oyedele is not new to the President; he previously served as the Chairman of the committee that proposed major tax reforms to help the government earn more money.
The meeting focused on "revenue mobilization," which simply means finding better ways for the government to collect the money it needs for roads, schools, and hospitals.
By expanding the "tax base," the government hopes to rely less on borrowing and more on a sustainable internal system.
Oyedele will work closely with the main Ministry of Finance to ensure the President's "Renewed Hope" economic policies are actually put into action.
