In a significant move to strengthen Nigeria's security and civil service, President Bola Tinubu has officially inaugurated Tunji Disu as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
The event served as a prelude to the first Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of 2026.
Tunji Disu’s confirmation as substantive IGP comes after he served in an acting capacity. He is expected to lead the police force with a focus on professionalism, modern policing, and restoring public trust.
The swearing-in ceremony was not just about the police. It included the appointment of new commissioners for the RMAFC and FCSC, ensuring these vital government bodies are fully staffed to handle fiscal and civil service duties.
By swearing in these officials right before the Federal Executive Council meeting, the government ensured that the cabinet was ready to tackle urgent national issues immediately.
The ceremony highlighted the presence of key leaders like the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Esther Walson-Jack, and other senior cabinet ministers, signaling a unified start to the administration's 2026 agenda.
