Following a series of intense clashes in Borno State, Nigerian security forces have officially recaptured the military base in Ngoshe town.
While the town is now back under government control, the military is moving into a new phase of "operational review" to prevent future raids by terrorists.
Last week, a violent attack in the region resulted in the loss of soldiers and the abduction of over 100 women and children.
Soldiers initially moved to Pulka to regroup before launching the final successful assault that drove the insurgents out.
In Abuja, the Minister of Defence confirmed that while the army has faced challenges, the terrorists are suffering much heavier losses.
Efforts are still being intensified to track down and rescue the hundreds of civilians currently held in captivity by the insurgents.
