Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have released footage of 176 residents snatched from the Kaiama area of Kwara State.
The video serves as a grim update to the deadly attack that recently devastated the Woro community.
The attack was reportedly a "revenge" move. The Emir of Woro had previously resisted the terrorists' attempts to force their extremist teachings on his people and had reported them to security agencies.
The raid was extremely violent. The community's Chief Imam, a school principal, and several students were among those killed. The terrorists even used the Emir’s own car to cart away their victims.
A member of the group spoke in the video, accusing the government of downplaying the crisis. While officials reportedly gave lower numbers, the terrorists paraded nearly 200 people to prove their point.
As of now, the Kwara State government has not yet released an official statement regarding this new video or the claims made by the insurgents.
