The Kwara State Government has officially reacted to the disturbing video showing 176 kidnap victims in a terrorist camp.
Speaking on Saturday, the Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, confirmed that the government is aware of the footage and is working hard to bring everyone home safely.
Local leaders from the Woro community have already looked at the video and confirmed that several people shown are indeed their neighbors and relatives.
While the terrorists claim to have 176 people, the government says it cannot confirm an exact number yet. They explained that some people who were thought to be kidnapped have actually reunited with their families or fled to nearby towns in Niger State.
A special committee is currently working with the military and local leaders to coordinate a rescue mission and provide help to those displaced by the attack.
The government urged the public not to panic or spread unverified rumors while security agencies analyze the footage.
