Nasir El-Rufai is demanding transparency from the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, regarding the alleged purchase of 10 kilograms of a lethal chemical.
El-Rufai stated that as a concerned citizen, he felt it was necessary to ask questions about the importation of substances that could harm the public.
Reports suggest the chemical was ordered from a supplier in Poland.
El-Rufai wants to see the permits used for the purchase and asks if there is a plan in place to handle any health emergencies the chemical might cause.
The former governor insists he is asking these questions in "good faith" to make sure national institutions are following the law and keeping Nigerians safe.
He believes that being open about such dangerous materials is the only way to maintain trust between the government and the people.
