A seven-member investigative team has rejected a petition by former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, which accused UNN officials of "unethical disclosure." Instead, the committee found that the officials were simply doing their jobs by exposing discrepancies in his academic and NYSC certificates.
Uche Nnaji claimed UNN staff tampered with his files and "leaked" his records to the media. The panel found no evidence of political manipulation or unauthorized access.
The panel visited the Nsukka campus, interviewed the Registrar, and performed a technical audit of electronic logs to ensure the records were authentic.
The report raises serious questions about how Nnaji obtained a graduation certificate dated July 1985, which he presented to President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly for his 2023 appointment.
The Federal Government’s support for the UNN leadership is seen as a major win for transparency and academic integrity in Nigeria’s university system.
