Seeking to prevent a wider regional war, President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued an official apology to neighboring countries affected by recent Iranian drone and missile attacks.
During his Saturday speech, he announced a major shift in Iran’s military strategy designed to de-escalate tensions with its "brothers" in the Middle East. The interim leadership council has ordered the Iranian military to halt all attacks on neighboring states, provided those countries do not allow their territory to be used by the U.S. or Israel to attack Iran.
Despite the apology to neighbors, Pezeshkian remains firm against the West, stating that Iran will never surrender its sovereignty regardless of the intensity of the airstrikes.
The address comes as the U.S.-Israeli military campaign continues to target strategic Iranian infrastructure, leading to significant flight disruptions at airports like Dubai (DXB).
While Pezeshkian seeks to calm regional neighbors, some hardline Iranian lawmakers have criticized his apology as a sign of "weakness" during a time of war.
