Following a violent encounter with gunmen in Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi has urged the government to stop "distracting" the public with political violence and focus on the hunger crisis facing Nigerians.
The former Governor made these remarks after inspecting his party's burnt-down office in Ikwerre Local Government AreaAmaechi warned that the state is sliding toward "anarchy" and challenged the Governor to provide better security for all citizens, regardless of their political party.
In an emotional speech, Amaechi stated, "We are hungry," and argued that political attacks will not put food on the tables of Nigerians who are "dropping dead every day."
The event marked Amaechi’s formal move to the ADC, signaling a major shift in the political landscape as he begins massive mobilization for the next election.
The former minister credited the Police, DSS, and Civil Defence for preventing a tragedy during the shootout with the suspected thugs.
