Following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Reno Omokri has pledged to devote his life to serving Nigeria on the global stage.
Omokri, who will now represent Nigeria in the United Mexican States, expressed deep gratitude to the President and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
Omokri is one of 34 non-career ambassadors chosen to represent Nigeria's interests abroad.
In his reaction, Omokri highlighted the success of the 2025 "Detty December" event, which saw 1.2 million tourists visit Nigeria safely, as proof that the country is a secure destination for investment.
He gave special thanks to his foster parents and Nuhu Ribadu, whom he credited for his journey from a presidential spokesman to a high-ranking diplomat.
Omokri received the news just as he began a six-day climb of Mount Kilimanjaro to hoist the Nigerian flag at Africa’s highest peak.
