Major European powers have formed a "protective shield" around Cyprus after a stealthy, low-flying drone evaded radar and struck a military base on Monday.
The UK, France, and Greece are now coordinating their forces to prevent another breach of the island’s airspace.
Officials say the drone flew very low to stay hidden from radar. While British forces shot down two drones, one got through, damaging a runway and forcing nearby residents to evacuate.
Greece is deploying its "Centauros" jamming system. This technology is famous for stopping drones that "hug" the ground or skim the surface of the sea, making it much harder for attackers to sneak through.
The French army stated they are working closely with regional partners to honor existing defense agreements and keep the region stable during the current crisis between the US, Israel, and Iran.
Since Cyprus does not have a large air force of its own, these international reinforcements—including fighter jets and missile destroyers—are critical for the island’s safety.
